We are excited to be in our fourth year planning the annual Land Regatta Run/Walk to be held August 19th, 2017 in Upper Lake Park.
This event has quickly become recognized for its dedication to the community. Each year, the proceeds from the event are put towards a community project selected in collaboration with the City of Port Washington.
In 2014, we were proud to dedicate $6,265 towards the installation of the Coal Dock Park Safety Railing. In 2015, the event funded the installation of an outdoor fitness park in the lookout of Upper Lake Park and last year, we raised $13,500 for Possibility Playground. In 2017, we will return to our beginning by dedicating proceeds to the Coal Dock Park safety railing.
Coal Dock Park was designed to serve as a space to hold festivals and for people to walk, run, and play while taking in the breathtaking views of the Port Washington harbor. In order to provide a safe environment for children and adults alike, a railing on the north side of the park is to be installed.
Be3 will help defray costs associated with the railing installation by donating all proceeds raised from this year’s Land Regatta Run/Walk event to this project. It is estimated that the railing requires $200k to install with half of the necessary monies already raised.
The Land Regatta Run/Walk is a family-friendly chip-timed event designed to appeal to all abilities with two course distances available: Both routes will exit Upper Lake Park through the north entrance and incorporate the Spinnaker residential area.
The 5k route will travel downtown via the Interurban Trail before returning to the Upper Lake Park via the south entrance. The 2 mile course will remain in "the bluff" area and return to the finish line through the north park entrance. Both courses will be timed by Absolute Race Timing of West Bend and top placing participants by age group will be recognized during the award ceremony scheduled for 11:00am.
All advance registrants aged 14 & up will receive a t-shirt with registration. Youth aged 13 & under may participate free (no t-shirt included). Following the main event, Be3 Jrs will again host the free Kids Fun Run which will loop around Upper Lake Park (0.7 mi). The kids course will include fun obstacles to keep kids engaged. The Kids Fun Run will begin at approximately 10am.
