im Harris started running in 1976 and never stopped. He completed 22 marathons, including the Boston marathon three times, and countless road races around the valley. A real competitor, Jim loved the fitness and competition that running provided.
What he enjoyed, even more, was the lifelong camaraderie of Fresno’s running community. His son, Tod James Harris, now a reverend and leader of the Total Life Change ministry would call him Jimmy. This is the inspiration for the inaugural Jimmy 5K & 2 Mile run/walk.
Jim was known for his a “thumbs up” approach to life, career, and service always creating a caring atmosphere. In addition to running, Jim was a competitive triathlete, a swimmer, a tennis player, and a golfer. He worked for Fresno Unified School district as a teacher and administrator for more than 40 years. He also served the community as both member and leader of Phi Delta Kappa, Fig Garden Swim and Racquet Club, Association of California School Administration (ACSA), and Kiwanis.
Thank you for honoring Jim’s memory by participating in this race.
